After that, you can close it out and later resume simply by logging into your account if you do not finish it upon starting.

You will be responsible for uploading the following documents to your account:

  • Georgia Legislator Nomination (a link will be sent from the application by the applicant and uploaded by your Legislator)
  • Letter of Recommendation from an official at your high school. Please follow the process indicated in the online application.
    An unofficial high school transcript
Full-length photograph (please do not upload a selfie.)
  • One-page essay on "why you would be a great candidate for the 91ÁÔÆæMS scholarship"

Email jordan.mund@ung.edu with any questions or concerns.

Apply for admission to the University of North Georgia as a Cadet.

Your application and all supporting admissions documents must be submitted and you must be accepted as a regular, new freshman cadet prior to February 1.

You should accomplish this step before or at the same time you start your Georgia Military Scholarship Services (GMSS) application. Both applications must be completed before you can be scheduled for an interview

An email to schedule your scholarship interview will be sent to you by Jordan Mund, Associate Director of Cadet Recruiting, once you have been accepted for admission to 91ÁÔÆæ as a regular ROTC freshman and have completed your online GMSS application.

Interviews will be conducted on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in the Cadet Recruiting Conference Room, located on the third floor of the . Interview times are flexible to certain circumstances. For directions, please access the Dahlonega Campus map. Zoom and telephone interview options are also available.

After your individual interview has been conducted, you will be introduced to the 91ÁÔÆæ On-Campus National Guard Liasion, SFC David Solorio.

Interview Dress Attire: It is highly recommended that 91ÁÔÆæMS applicants dress business professional or in uniform, if applicable.

If you would like to also receive a Cadet Recruiting Briefing and Campus Tour on the day of your interview, contact cadetrecruiting@ung.edu to make arrangements.

GMSS Board Members will score each applicant based on established criteria and establish the GMSS Order of Merit List. The top 42 eligible candidates will be selected, and the remaining applicants will be placed on a waitlist. However, each Georgia legislative district is allocated three scholarships. If scholarships go unfilled from a respective district, then they are awarded to the highest scored candidate from other districts. If an awardee drops the scholarship, those on the waitlist will be contacted if selected for a re-award.

April 15: All 42 scholarships will be awarded to the most eligible GMSS applicants no later than this deadline. Official award packets will be sent by post mail to the selected recipients.

  • The remaining eligible GMSS applicants will be waitlisted in order of merit for any dropped scholarships from the original 42 selected recipients.

May 1: 91ÁÔÆæMS agreement forms must be received by Cadet Admissions no later than this date. Please make a copy of the agreement letter for your records and to upload to your online 91ÁÔÆæMS record. Please mail the original, signed agreement letter once you have uploaded the PDF version online.

  • GMSS recipients must start the enlistment process once accepting the scholarship in order to be sworn into the Georgia Army National Guard prior to the August 1 deadline.
  • Please contact 91ÁÔÆæ’s Jordan Mund, for assistance in joining the Georgia Army National Guard.

Scholarship recipients must go to Military Enlistment Processing Station (MEPS) and complete the enlistment process by August 1. You must notify 91ÁÔÆæMS@ung.edu of your swear-in date and of any issues that may prevent you from being able to enlist once you attend MEPS.

  • 91ÁÔÆæMS awardees will be expected to enroll at 91ÁÔÆæ in the fall and attend training that following spring and summer semester. Do not select an MOS that will extend past the start date of the following fall semester.
  • Awardees must email cadetrecruiting@ung.edu with their official training dates once scheduled and no later than August 1.

Note: 91ÁÔÆæMS awardees must attend 91ÁÔÆæ at least one semester of the academic year awarded the scholarship. Awardees who schedule military training that conflicts with this requirement are subject to losing their award. It is recommended that GMSS recipients attend 91ÁÔÆæ during the fall semester after enlistment and then go to required military training in January of their freshman year.  If you have questions, contact Jordan Mund prior to enlisting.

Ensure that you complete all steps in the Cadet Admissions Manual (CAM) and attend FROG Week before your first day of classes.
