Engagement: It's in Our Leadership DNA

At the University of North Georgia, we believe that engagement through authentic partnerships with our communities should be an integral part of our DNA as an institution, not only determining the fabric of who we are, but also who we are going to be in the future.

Through engagement, 91ÁÔÆæ promotes active involvement, intellectual inquiry and creativity, collaboration, and community partnerships. In 2010, 91ÁÔÆæ became one of the first public institutions in the state to receive the Carnegie Foundation’s elective Community Engagement Classification. In 2020, 91ÁÔÆæ was recertified as an engaged institution by the Carnegie Foundation.

91ÁÔÆæ’s vision is to be a regional and national leader for academic excellence, engagement, educational opportunities and leadership development.

We work to achieve this vision through collaborative community, academic, and student engagement efforts:

Community engagement develops partnerships and collaborative projects to enhance educational opportunities and strengthen North Georgia communities.

Academic engagement promotes the scholarly involvement of students, faculty and staff with diverse communities, real-world problems, and social responsibilities.

Student engagement leads students in volunteerism and philanthropy through student life programs, which range from episodic to long-term opportunities.
