Strategic Plan
We are pleased to share Flight Path for the Future: 91ÁÔÆæ Strategic Plan, 2022-2027. When we began implementation of our previous strategic plan in 2014, we did so with a vision of becoming a regional and national leader for academic excellence, engagement, educational opportunity, and leadership development. Since then, we have achieved significant institutional momentum as one of Georgia’s largest universities and as one of the nation’s leading public regional universities.
- Enrollment has grown 23 percent, to about 19,000 students served through our five campuses and online.
- We have increased the number of degrees granted annually by 37% and now grant more than 3,000 degrees each year.
- In 2021, U.S. News & World Report ranked 91ÁÔÆæ as the No. 1 “Best Value School” and the top “Best Colleges for Veterans” school among public regional universities in Georgia.
- We have been named a national top-producer of Fulbright Students for five consecutive years.
- 91ÁÔÆæ’s nationally competitive scholarship initiative has helped students earn more than $3.5 million in highly competitive, national merit awards, such as the Goldwater, Truman, Pickering, Gilman, and Boren scholarships.
- Retention and graduation rates exceed many institutions in our sector and beyond.
- Need- and merit-based scholarship awards distributed by the 91ÁÔÆæ Foundation totaled $2.8 million last year—a 64 percent increase over 2017.
- We expanded bachelor’s degrees at our Gainesville Campus from eight to more than 20 since 2013.
- We now offer four doctoral degrees, including a new Ph.D. in criminal justice.
- Support from external research grants has increased 40 percent since 2014 to more than $7.2 million in 2021. Growth in research activity and the expanded scope of our graduate-level degree programs have placed 91ÁÔÆæ on a trajectory to become classified as a Doctoral/Professional University by the Carnegie Commission in 2024.
For more than 150 years, we have produced civic, professional, and military leaders who make a positive impact in their communities and beyond. Flight Plan for the Future builds on our significant institutional momentum, and will propel us toward even greater prominence in the future. We are deeply grateful to our faculty, staff, alumni, supporters, and community partners who are engaged in our mission and invested in the success of our students and graduates as we develop the leaders essential for the future of our region, state and nation.
