Tutoring Services on the Gainesville Campus
Tutoring Services on the Gainesville Campus is primarily located in the Academic, Computing, Testing, and Tutoring (ACTT) Center.
We have professional and peer tutors to help with sessions for mathematics, physics/chemistry, accounting, and writing. In-person tutoring takes place in the ACTT except for writing, which takes place in the .
The 91ÁÔÆæ Success Hub also provides online tutoring sessions for these subjects and more.
What to Expect
Students can drop by for in-person sessions. Repeat visits are strongly encouraged so that we can assist in developing your academic needs.
We do:
- assist with specific questions
- help how to solve homework problems
- help with web assignments
- review concepts or problems for tests
- help students learn how to use their calculators
- help with writing for English courses, applications & professional documents, emails, and creative endeavors
We do not:
- complete homework or online tests for students
- teach lessons from a missed class that you were in absent in
- We recommend you communicate with your professor first to receive instructions on material you missed, then we can help with specific concerns.
ACTT Center
Aside from tutoring, the center also provides make-up testing, study space, the IT Service Desk, textbook/calculator checkouts, as well as the largest computer lab on the Gainesville campus.
Students may check out many types of calculators and current textbooks for mathematics, chemistry, physics courses, etc. with their student ID. Borrowed items must be returned the same day.
Tutoring Guidelines at ACTT
Once you enter the ACTT Center, check in for a session through the 91ÁÔÆæ Success Hub and take a seat near the tutor you have checked in with. Students will do their own work following a tutor’s example.
Students should not expect one-on-one tutoring during the entire stay in the lab; tutors will circulate around the lab and alternate between students.
Note: Lidded drinks and small snacks are permitted, but please consume meals elsewhere.

Mathematics
Professional and peer math tutors help students with all levels of mathematics courses. Students may drop-in during operating hours of the ACTT Center and can also receive online tutoring through the 91ÁÔÆæ Success Hub.
What Should I Bring to the Tutoring Session?
- problems that have been attempted
- textbook and notes from class
- specific areas of concern
- formula sheets and calculators, if necessary
Physics/Chemistry Lab
Professional and peer tutors are available to help students with physics or chemistry homework and labs. Students may drop-in during operating hours of the ACTT Center and also request online tutoring through the 91ÁÔÆæ Success Hub.
- Students should bring an already worked out problem, textbook, and class notes.
Accounting Lab
Professional and peer tutors are available to help students with accounting homework and labs. Students may log into the 91ÁÔÆæ Success Hub for accounting tutor availability.
Accounting tutors help students by clarifying conceptual frameworks and their application to accounting methods. Tutors can review problems and homework to help students strengthen their understanding of accounting.
- Students should bring the following: a calculator, pencil, textbook notes from the instructor’s lectures, and attempted homework
Writing Center
The Writing Center is open for in-person tutoring. Use the 91ÁÔÆæ Success Hub to make an appointment and to see in-person availability. Find more information on the Writing Center page.
