Overview

Dr. Yue Yin, a soprano from China, blends distinguished academic credentials with a vibrant performance career. She completed her Doctoral and Master’s degrees in Vocal Performance and Vocal Literature at Indiana University, supplemented by a minor in Music Theory and a specialized certification in vocology. Her foundational studies were undertaken at the Royal College of Music in London, where she earned her Bachelor's degree.

Dr. Yue Yin’s career is marked by collaborations with music organizations across the globe, including New York Lyric Opera, Singapore Lyric Opera, Bangkok Opera, Qingdao Symphony Orchestra, Jakarta choral festival, Dingyi Music Company, among others. Her opera roles include Bianca in Puccini's La Rondine, Susannah in Carlisle Floyd's Susannah, Nannetta in Verdi's Falstaff, Blonde in Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Pamina in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Sophie in Massenet's Werther, Olympia in Offenbach's Les Contes d’Hoffmann, and Morgana in Handel's Alcina, among other notable roles. In concert and recital, Dr. Yue Yin has performed as a soloist in renowned works such as Bach's Mass in B minor, Mozart’s Mass in C minor, and Mahler's Symphony No. 8, among others. Her upcoming performances feature her as the soprano soloist in Haydn’s "The Creation" in Singapore, a collaborative recital with a Finnish pianist in Singapore, and another collaborative recital in Japan in 2025. Notably, she was awarded the Helen and Lynton Memorial Award in the 2020 National Society of Arts and Letters competition.

Dr. Yue Yin holds membership in music and educational organizations such as the National Association of Teachers of Singing, CS Music, the College Music Society, the Singapore Musician Association, and the Qingdao Musician Association. Within these associations, she actively contributes through presentations on vocal pedagogy, adjudication of competitions, and advocating for underrepresented repertoire. Since 2018, she has been a recurring voice instructor at the International Choral Festival, organized by the International Christian Choral Conductor's Association, across various Southeast Asian countries. Beginning her voice studio in 2012, she has taught individual students from diverse cultural backgrounds, skill levels, ages, genders, and musical interests, spanning across various genres. Her students have achieved successful admissions into prestigious music graduate programs in both classical and musical genres in the United States and the United Kingdom, including institutions like the Manhattan School of Music, Royal College of Music, Royal Academy of Music, New England Conservatory of Music, among others.
