Overview

Dr. Calatayud was born in Veracruz, Mexico. She completed her Ph.D at Florida State University in the spring of 2000 with a specialization in 20th Century Mexican Women Artists. She earned a Master’s degree in Teaching Languages (MATL and TESOL) at The University of Southern Mississippi in 1995, and a Bachelor's in Educational Sciences from Universidad de las Américas, Puebla, Mexico in 1989. She is in the review process of the publication of a Breve antología de la literatura mexicana y chicana; a comprehensive text for university students of Spanish who aim to learn and further develop a knowledge an understanding of Mexican and Chicano culture.  Dr. Calatayud is an associate professor in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at University of North Georgia since 2012; and she is part of the executive board of the Asociación Internacional de Literatura y Cultura Femenina Hispánica.  She presents widely in conferences about Latin American literature and comparative culture topics.
