About Peer Mentor, Ronia Nevels

What did you like best about the 91ÁÔÆæ McNair program?

The support and guidance I received when finishing undergrad and applying for grad school!

What do you wish you knew before you started grad school?

Do not be afraid to ask questions from your network of professors and peers who have gone before you. It might save you a headache and valuable time in the decision making process!

What difficulties have you faced in Grad school?

The most difficult part of grad school is you need to be very organized and continuously motivated.

Often you only have a few assignments that are huge percentage of your overall grade and you need to be on top of deadlines. I have added notifications on my phone's calendar, set daily reminders, and have a book planner so I can stay on top of my assignments.

I stay motivated by focusing on my Why! In order for me to achieve my professional and personal goals, completing a Master of Social Work program is imperative. I would also say it really helps that I enjoy my classes and I was well prepared to continue my graduate education with the McNair program.
