Finding Peer Reviewed Articles

Transcript Starts

In this video, I will show you how to locate peer reviewed articles from the GALILEO scholar interface.

First, what is peer review?

Peer review is a process by which a journal passes a paper received for publication to outside experts for their comments on its suitability and worth.

Let's look at how to limit peer reviewed articles in the individual databases found in GALILEO. We will start by going to Databases A-Z, then scroll down to Research Library. In the Research Library interface, you can see there's a peer-reviewed limiter available on the default search page or on the advanced search page. You can also run a search and then limit your results to peer reviewed on the search results page.

You can also limit your search to peer-reviewed articles using the GALILEO Discover Search box. When using the GALILEO search, you will have to limit the results to peer reviewed on the advanced search page or after you run your search. The results found here contain books and articles from popular magazines, as well as peer-reviewed academic journals. Click on "Scholarly Peer-Reviewed Journals" and all the results will be limited to peer-reviewed content.

Here is a list of some of the databases founding in GALILEO that offer the peer-reviewed option.

I hope this video was helpful to you and if you have any questions for us please contact us using the "Contact US" form on the GALILEO homepage.
