Caitlyn Bergey [Supplemental Instruction Facilitator]: Supplemental Instruction is a job that you have on campus. What’s great about SI is that it fits into your schedule, as opposed to having like a set time. So every facilitator is also a student, they have classes of their own.
Mary Helvie [Supplemental Instruction Facilitator]: It feels amazing to see them [students] benefit whether it's from their own work or from me helping them to study more.
Grace Maurer [Supplemental Instruction Facilitator]: Yea, being a part of their [students] journey is very heartwarming.
Zacharias Corwin [Supplemental Instruction Facilitator]: You build relationships and also help students find better learning habits.
Grace Maurer [Supplemental Instruction Facilitator]: Every week is a new adventure.
Caitlyn Bergey [Supplemental Instruction Facilitator]: So every facilitator is also a student. They have classes of their own. We are here to help you wholeheartedly. This team is so sweet and is very very supportive and encouraging and we are just a huge family kind of. That sounds so cliche, but it's true [laughter]. We like to celebrate the little accomplishments of every single facilitator.
Grace Maurer [Supplemental Instruction Facilitator]: We are there to be a guide for the students. You get to see these people grow as individuals.
Caitlyn Bergey [Supplemental Instruction Facilitator]: I've grown to feel more comfortable actually in myself. I'm not afraid to express myself and just be who I am, awkward and everything.
Grace Maurer [Supplemental Instruction Facilitator]: It’s a really rewarding experience.
Mary Helvie [Supplemental Instruction Facilitator]: I feel like anyone can do it
Zacharias Corwin [Supplemental Instruction Facilitator]: If you find enjoyment in learning, and if you enjoy seeing other students learn, SI is a role that is made for you.
