Officers with our Department perform all law enforcement duties, including patrol, traffic enforcement, traffic accident reporting, criminal investigations, and much more. Our Department has a state-of-the-art Communications Center, which monitors radio traffic, alarms, calls for service, and more.

The Hiring Process Steps

Before applying for the position, review the disqualifiers.

  1. Initial Application
  2. Panel Interview
    • The applicant will participate in an interview
  3. Background Packet
    • If applicant is approved after panel interview, they will receive a background packet.
    • The background packet includes a criminal history check, driving check, and other background information.
      • An applicant with any disqualifiers listed here will not be considered for employment.
  4. Digital Voice Stress Analysis
    •  The applicant will be interviewed by a certified examiner who will ask various questions about the applicant’s history.
  5. Physical Fitness Assessment (Non-certified Police Officer Candidates Only)

  6. Conditional Offer
    • Pre-employment offer is sent to candidate.
  7. Psychological Evaluation
    • The psychological evaluation consists of written tests and an interview with a psychologist.
  8. Medical Evaluation & Drug Screening
    • The medical evaluation and drug screening are conducted by a physician and determine if an applicant is capable of performing the physical portions of the job description.
  9. Final Offer
    • Final offer extended to the candidate.
