Research/Special Interests
Through an independent study with two graduating designers, Mark produced and presented several exhibitions, bound written reports, budget proposals and many physical elements to the residents and administrators of Montrose, PA, a small north eastern Pennsylvania town of 2,000 near Scranton. The team presented multiple creative changes through photos and illustrations of interior and exterior design elements within town signage, architectural alterations in color, design, materials, landscaping, lighting and parking. Over 70% of the presented concepts were completed by the town over a two year period.
Through an independent study at Penn State University, he created and painted colorful pastel wall murals of graphic representations of letters and numbers within the second floor hall of the dean’s office within the visual arts building.
As Assistant Professor, along with a team of three graphic design students in Pittsburgh, Mark created and painted a long, colorful 50’ X 10’ wall graphic of Pittsburgh citizens dressed in 19th century attire to simulate Pittsburgh citizens when Mark’s Restaurant & Deli opened in the downtown strip district.
