Dr. Caroline Munoz, associate professor of digital marketing at the University of North Georgia (91ÁÔÆæ), served as one of three authors on an article recently published in the .

"The Use and Value of Badges: Leveraging Salesforce Trailhead Badges for Marketing Technology Education," examines the value of marketing technology learning platforms "to stimulate preparedness for new careers or career advancement." , Florida International University assistant professor of marketing, and , Texas Tech University professor of marketing and supply chain management, were also authors for the article.

Munoz said badges are micro-credentials that can be earned quicker than certifications.

"It's very much about hands-on skills students are able to gain from the courses," Munoz said.

Munoz said the article represents the first research on Salesforce Trailhead Badges. Salesforce is a leading customer relationship management software company.

The badges, according to the article, "hold value as rich platforms that signal to the marketplace competence in relevant topics. The modules are a platform for future lifelong education opportunities as software evolves and technology changes."
