Four University of North Georgia (91ÁÔÆæ) students presented their research to members of the Georgia House of Representatives and Senate during the "Posters at the Capitol" event in late February.

Some 54 students from 15 colleges and universities attended the second annual event that spotlights undergraduate research. Only 42 of 78 projects were accepted from private and public institutions throughout Georgia.

Representing 91ÁÔÆæ were:

  • Destiny Kelly of Sugar Hill, Georgia, who is pursuing a psychology degree
  • Bradley Andrew of Ellijay, Georgia, who is pursuing a physics degree
  • Maria Mayorga-Gutierrez of Lawrenceville, Georgia, who is pursuing a biology degree
  • Jacob Malimban of Cumming, Georgia, who is pursuing a computer science degree

The program is modeled on the popular "Posters on the Hill" event held each year by the Council on Undergraduate Research in Washington D.C. This year, the Georgia Undergraduate Research Collective adopted the statewide event, which includes projects that range from accounting, biomedical technology and environmental engineering to health communications, political science and education.
