A University of North Georgia (91ÁÔÆæ) senior's photo is on the cover of a magazine published by his hometown newspaper.

Jake Tekippe, a business management major from Clarkesville, Georgia, won a cover art contest for the fall edition of The Mountain Traveler. Tekippe's winning photo shows leaves on a bridge at Dukes Creek Falls in White County in fall 2017.

Tekippe said he's still relatively new to photography, working at his craft for a little more than a year now.

"I'm trying to get my name out there, get recognized," he said. "Hopefully more people can see my work."

The Mountain Traveler is a full-color regional visitor and travel guide for Northeast Georgia. It is published each spring and fall by Community Newspapers Inc. (CNI) and distributed to visitor centers, chambers of commerce and retailers throughout the Northeast Georgia region

"We received about 80 submissions, and many of them were just what we were looking for in a great cover: colorful fall foliage, beautiful waterfalls and incredible scenery from our mountains," CNI Newspapers Regional Publisher Alan NeSmith said. "Choosing a winner was a hard decision."
