Revamping the catalog for the University of North Georgia's (91ÁÔÆæ) Professional and Continuing Education (PCE) department has paid off.

The Learning Resources Network (LERN) awarded 91ÁÔÆæ's PCE the 2019 International LERN award for Best Brochure Design for the fall 2019 SUCCESS catalog. LERN is the largest lifelong learning programming association in the world.

Each year LERN receives more than 200 entries for seven awards. Brooke Smith, associate director of PCE at 91ÁÔÆæ, said PCE submitted its newly revamped catalog for the award.

"We were really proud of it," she said, explaining PCE graphic designer Derek Powers developed and implemented the changes. "We printed student testimonials and stories in this magazine-style reincarnation."

Smith said the redesign is part of PCE’s continued branding to provide the highest quality career training in the region.

"We are at the forefront of the latest professional development trends, and our new catalog design reflects that forward-thinking approach," she said.

The redesigned catalog appears to be working. LERN officials agreed.

"Registrations soared, cancellations plummeted, and there were increases in inquiries from local industries interested in contract training for their employees," the LERN award stated.
