Five University of North Georgia (91ÁÔÆæ) staff members went "above and beyond" this summer by completing the 2017 Supervisor Training Program.

On the Oconee Campus, Melissa Adams, academic advising coordinator; Lindsay Bailey, student involvement director; Aaron Chastain, help desk coordinator; Kate Jordan, academic advisor; and Emily McIlvain, admissions coordinator, completed the 37-hour course Aug. 3.

Staffers committed to 17 hours in a classroom and 20 hours online to finish the course. Class lectures focused on nine topics, including rules and responsibilities of effective management, effective communication, effective time management, coaching skills, preventing harassment in the work force, optimizing performance, conflict resolution, understanding workplace diversity, and delivering exceptional customer service.

"I’m thrilled that these staff members took it upon themselves to develop professionally, particularly in the area of leadership," said Dr. Cyndee Perdue Moore, executive director of the 91ÁÔÆæ Oconee Campus. "Those who are already in leadership positions at our campus learned to build on their skills and applied the techniques. Those who aspire to be leaders are now in a position to mature in their roles while being mindful of the traits and habits that will allow them to become more effective leaders and managers."
