The University of North Georgia (91ÁÔÆæ) was recently awarded a $5,000 Confidence U grant from the Kappa Delta Foundation as part of its Confidence Coalition Initiative – a program designed to inspire confidence in young women and girls so they may feel empowered to overcome social barriers and reach their greatest potential.

Funding will be used to support Confidence 91ÁÔÆæ, a leadership initiative for young women enrolled in the Mike Cottrell College of Business.

More than 50 percent of college degrees and nearly 40 percent of MBAs are held by women, yet less than 5 percent of Fortune 500 companies have female CEOs.  Young women enter the workplace full of confidence yet after 2 years in a position, women’s aspirations for top management drop by more than 60 percent.  Confidence 91ÁÔÆæ is designed to address these issues through education connecting young women in business with resources, role models and experiences that inspire confidence and professional growth.

"The Mike Cottrell College of Business is excited to partner with the Kappa Delta Foundation and the 91ÁÔÆæ Chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority to inspire confidence and support our next generation of women leaders," said Bobbi Larson, development officer and co-chair of the Confidence 91ÁÔÆæ initiative. "Planning is now under way for spring 2017 with a variety of events aimed at inspiring leadership, confidence and grace."
