Institute for Cyber Operations

The mission of the Institute for Cyber Operations at the University of North Georgia (91��) is to develop highly capable cyber professionals and leaders for the private, non-profit, military, and government sectors. We accomplish this through innovative co-curricular opportunities, interdisciplinary research in emerging threats and solutions, relevant community outreach, and fostering a sustainable ecosystem to support cyber operations education. 91�� is designated by the NSA and Department of Homeland Security as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE). With this designation, 91�� is able to offer the Department of Defense Cyber Scholarship Program.

91�� is also designated as a University System of Georgia leadership institution and is The Military College of Georgia, one of six federally designated Senior Military Colleges in the nation.

Payne named director of cyber institute

Dr. Bryson Payne has been named the director of the 91�� Institute for Cyber Operations, and Caitlin Conneely serves as deputy director for operations and outreach.

Cadet presents cyber research in Tokyo

Cadet Connor Moore presented his cybersecurity capstone research in December at the International Conference on Modern Educational Technology.

91�� takes eighth in NSA Codebreaker Challenge

91�� takes 8th in NSA Codebreaker Challenge

Cybersecurity students, faculty and alumni from 91�� finished eighth out of more than 570 colleges and universities in the 2024 NSA Codebreaker Challenge.

91�� hosts female-focused CyberSHEro

91�� sponsored CyberSHEro, an event held at 91��'s Dahlonega Campus, to support young women pursuing cyber education and cyber as a career field.

Students earn DOD Cyber Scholarship

Two 91�� students are winners of the Department of Defense Cyber Scholarship for the 2023-24 academic year, including 91��'s first graduate student to earn the prestigious award.
