Biography

In her years as an addiction counselor, Dr. Katie Lamberson recognized a need for systemic change in the way in which we prevent and treat addiction in our society. She believes her place in creating this change is in training strong, knowledgeable, and empathic addiction counselors. She is passionate about understanding the person behind the addiction and treating all clients with compassion and autonomy. In order to foster these beliefs in students, Dr. Lamberson utilizes experiential learning to foster empathy and passion for the addiction field. She is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers and integrates Motivational Interviewing into clinical work and supervision. Within the department, Dr. Lamberson serves as the chair of the admissions committee and the faculty advisor for Gamma Gamma Epsilon, 91ÁÔÆæ’s chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, the International Honor Society for counselors.
