Accounting Major - Mansfield Energy - Gainesville, Georgia

How did you hear about your internship?

When I first decided to pursue a career in accounting, I looked for jobs in the area and came across Mansfield Energy, but I didn't do any research because I was just starting college. However, roughly a year ago, I went to the Beta Alpha Psi meetings at the University of North Georgia, where we learned about various businesses and their cultures. Mansfield Energy was mentioned, and I remembered seeing it, so I became interested in learning more about it. I had a pleasant interaction with someone representing Mansfield Energy.  When I left the meeting, I looked up where the company was located and if there were any internship openings. I immediately applied, and within a few weeks, I got my first interview. I am grateful that I attended the meeting and learned about Mansfield Energy since it is the best job I've ever had.

What has been the most valuable (or favorite) part of the experience?

Initially, I thought the most valuable part of the internship was to obtain experience and knowledge in the field of accounting. However, as I settled into my internship, I discovered that our leaders and coworkers were the most valuable parts of this experience. I felt welcomed and accepted right away. If I have a question, everyone is willing to help, even if I've asked the same question a thousand times. They're prepared to explain things until you get it. Our team leaders and coworkers express their gratitude for one another and never neglect to recognize accomplishments. Having an internship with a team like this has made the experience fantastic! Even when tasks are challenging, I can approach them with optimism because I know I have a team behind me who is eager to assist if I am stuck.

How will this help you in the future?

This internship will help me figure out my future after graduation. I've gained great knowledge and experience with tax returns, utilizing Excel, and navigating state websites. This will help me to be more familiar with certain areas of a job rather than beginning from scratch. Though I am confident that my skills and knowledge will be useful in other accounting jobs, I am hoping to receive an offer to continue working with Mansfield after graduation because I have truly enjoyed my internship.
